Very much in the same way as we have planned our website using a story board method the same attention to detail must be to the physical folder structure of your live website.

 

What Do You Mean By This?

A website can be as big or as small as you like and a good analogy of this is the foundations of a building. If the foundations are strong then the studier the building. Likewise if you think out you folder structure prior to adding any physical content then life will become easier.

What Is A Folder Structure?

Below are a few images. The first being what would occupy your web space using this tutorial. Note there is a folder called images (fig 1) but equally there could be other folders for text documents or sound to name but a few.

The other (fig 2) is a glimpse inside the image folder and you will notice that it has been broken down to the next level and are name specific. Not only will the names of the folders help with the SEO it will also help you manage your site more efficiently.

If you intend to use a lot of images consider adding a prefix to group them together withim their folders. For example if you cover weddings and subsequently have a lot of images of different aspects of the wedding then if you named the images as follows it will group them together.
